POEMS // QUOTES // WISDOM
I was going through my notes and I found a couple of quotes, short poems, and wise words that have resonated with me at different times of my life.
I am a hopeful human. I believe in romance and love. I believe in the good and kindness of people. I trust that things will get better if we try a little harder, therefore, when you find words that make you think, take a moment to write them down, so that you can look back and celebrate who you were and how you continue to evolve through this rollercoaster of life.
Several of these I found while searching for words to help friends through rough times, only to realize those words healed or awakened something inside myself.
"Everything you can imagine is real". - Pablo Picasso
"Genius is the ability to renew one's emotions in daily experience", Paul Cezanne
“A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle”, Gloria Steinem
"Take your broken heart, and turn it into art", Carrie Fisher
"Take it personal. If it's not personal, it's impersonal and if it's impersonal, no one cares", Aaron Sorkin to Martin Sheen.
"I am a fish. You are the moon. You cannot touch me, but your light fills the ocean where I live", Rumi
"Being loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage", Lao Tzu
"It's never too late to be what you might have been", George Eliot
"There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you", Maya Angelou
"I want to do with you what spring does with the cherry trees", Pablo Neruda
"There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle", Albert Einstein
"We’ll chase the sunrise, over mountains and rivers, through cities and seas", Tyler Knott Gerson (I have followed him on Tmblr since about 2007ish and once in a while I go back and his romantic poetry always makes my heart skip a beat).
"Life is what happens to us while we are making other plans", Allen Saunders (I really think this one is an awakening to be in the moment. To enjoy the now).
"I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you simply, without problems or pride. I love you in this way because I do not know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that when I fall asleep your eyes close", Pablo Neruda, 100 Love Sonnets
"It's enough for me to be sure that you and I exist at this moment", Gabriel Garcia Marquez, One Hundred Years of Solitude
"On some far off shore, on some foggy afternoon, you will walk to me", Tyler Knott Gerson
